TALES FROM THE WARDROBE

Lennon Buchet Sorrenti portrait by Vanina Sorrenti, Milan June 2021

It is the continuation of a story that began some time ago, it is its evolution. A variety of volumes, fabrics and colors elaborated by Lawrence Steele that offer a wardrobe with a cosmopolitan feel, with principles such as the interchangeability between genders and sustainability at its very core - principles that ASPESI style has always possessed.

The wardrobe has a clear, precise and rigorous spirit. Each element has its own autonomous life but is related to the whole: like letters of the alphabet which, when mixed, compose words that are different each time.

An emotional resonance binds each garment to the next: it allows for a liberal interpretation according to who chooses to wear it. The daughter who borrowed her father's jacket will not only give value to that previous experience, but will add meaning to it, inventing a new aesthetic and providing the very idea of dressing with the depth that it deserves.

The trench coat as inspiration, with its defined and archetypal shape, occupies an important place in Lawrence Steele's imagination: his father was in fact a career soldier in the American Air Force. For everyone, it is a protective garment, free from gender connotations. Almost classic or elongated like a bathrobe, or in a lightweight, fluid and weightless fabric.

The proportions define jackets, pants, shirts and bon-ton dresses: all sporting surprising lengths, where everything is familiar but with a variation.

The materials characterize the ASPESI wardrobe. Pinstripe English wools, Japanese or Indian cottons: each garment is available in different fabrics and can have different functions.

The color and the prints flaunt this emotional resonance: neutral or with delicate incursions, sunny and faded patterns, florals and glen plaid.
