In the vast canvas of human experience, aesthetics plays a fundamental role in our perception of the world and the people who inhabit it – and there is no doubt that Milan is a place where this concept comes to life. Here, art, architecture, design and fashion come together in a harmonious blend to create a unique and extraordinary visual panorama.

As a modern observer of Milanese aesthetics, Scott Schuman, better known as The Sartorialist, captures not only images through his camera lens, but also ideas and concepts that recount the very essence of the city. Schuman delves into the city’s streets to reveal the hidden soul of Milan and its distinctive style.

In This is (MI), the photographic project created for ASPESI, man, architecture and urban design become actors on a stage where the dance of everyday life takes place. The clean, striking lines of the skyscrapers blend harmoniously with ornate details on historic buildings, creating an inspiring visual symphony.

It is precisely in this unique visual context, that Milanese style takes shape, a timeless elegance expressed not only in how the people dress, but also in their very essence. As an interpreter and custodian of Milan’s urban style, ASPESI, fits perfectly into this context, offering clothing defined not only by minimalist sophistication, but also the quintessential elements of Milanese taste.

The project, curated by Scott Schuman and featuring 15 personalities with ties to Milan, invites us to explore not only their individual style, but also their deep connection with the city and its cultural heritage. The photo shoot so becomes a journey through the streets of Milan and into the souls of the people who inhabit it and dress it:

This exploration translates into an exhibition offering visitors a close encounter with Milanese style, hosted from 14 to 31 March 2024 in the ASPESI flagship store in Via San Pietro all’Orto 24, Milan. Schuman’s images and the stories of the personalities he portrays provide a privileged window onto a world of elegance, creativity and belonging. A celebration of Milanese aesthetics and ASPESI’s timeless style.
